County Law Libraries - Resources and Information
The Minnesota State Law Librarian is required by Minn. Stat. 134A.16 to advise and assist development of county law libraries throughout the state. The State Law Librarian or his/her designee makes on-site visits to the libraries, submits recommendations for solving problems or addressing issues confronting the boards of trustees and provides training in law library management and develops cooperative programs.

- Minn. Op. Atty. Gen. 285-B, September 12, 1939 - Interpretation of Laws 1939, Ch. 96: An act establishing a law library in each county in the State of Minnesota
- Minn. Op. Atty. Gen. 285-B, November 13, 1956 - County Law Library maintained by two or more counties is operated as a unit; fees collected should be paid to treasurer of county wherein library is situated; library board consists of not more than 5 trustees
- Minn. Op. Atty. Gen. 285-B, September 15, 1961 - Creation of separate "County Law Library Fund" procedure for making disbursements therefrom, and necessity of allowance by county board discussed
- Letter to Otter Tail County Attorney, August 2, 1994 - County is not authorized to require the law library to pay rent for suitable quarters within the courthouse
